The Rajapalayam dog is a medium to large size sighthound. This dog originated in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. The Rajapalayam in the Tamil language means king’s fort, the dog derives its name from the Rajapalayam town. The Rajapalayam is one of the oldest native Indian dog breeds. The Kennel Club of India officially recognizes and registers this dog.
